1970年代、母たちの間で流行していたテーラー仕立てのバティックの服に、心を奪われたことがアジアの布との最初の出会いでした。舶来のバティックの模様に魅了され、紙に描いて遊んでいた記憶があります。以来、社会に出て、インドネシアをはじめアジア各地を旅しながら、布を集め、伝え、ときに売り、ときに身に纏いながら、その背景にある人々の見つめてきました。

　勤めの傍らコレクターとして活動を始め、1998年にCollection Sayaを立ち上げる。Collection Sayaとして、東京国際フォーラム、表参道ヒルズ、三越日本橋本店、東急百貨店渋谷本店、プラザハウス沖縄などをはじめ、各地のギャラリーや空間にて展示・出品を重ねてきました。その後、一般社団法人アジア・テキスタイル文化研究所の副代表理事を務めたのち、現在はRMKK+として、布と記憶の記録を続けています。布は、土地の記憶であり、人の時間そのものという想いを大切にしながら、これからも布の物語を紡いでいけたらと考えます。

　My first encounter with Asian textiles came in the 1970s, through the tailor-made batik garments that were popular among my mother’s generation. I was captivated by the intricate patterns of imported batik and still remember drawing them on paper for pleasure.

Since then, while pursuing my professional career, I have traveled throughout Indonesia and across Asia,
collecting textiles, sharing their stories, occasionally selling them, and often wearing them.
Through these journeys, I became increasingly interested not only in the textiles themselves, but also in the lives, memories, and cultural landscapes woven into them.

Alongside my work, I began collecting textiles and founded Collection Saya in 1998. Under that name, I
organized and participated in exhibitions at venues including the Tokyo International Forum, Omotesando Hills, Mitsukoshi Nihombashi, Tokyu Department Store Shibuya, Plaza House Okinawa, and numerous galleries and cultural spaces throughout Japan.

After serving as Vice Representative Director of the Asia Textile Culture Association, I continue my work
today through RMKK+, documenting textiles and the memories they carry.

I believe that textiles embody the memory of a place and the passage of human time. Through RMKK+, I hope to continue sharing the stories woven into cloth and the people connected to them.
